Description :

Stitch and Code: The Cambridge Festival Community Coding Quilt at the Centre for Computing History - 12 and 13 September 2026

During the Cambridge Festival 2026, communities contributed to the Cambridge Festival Community Quilt. We are delighted to display it here at the Centre for Computing History as part of Open Cambridge 2026.

For this weekend only (12/13 September), the Centre for Computing History will be free for anyone to visit*.

Made using a Japanese stitching technique, hitomezashi, each square of the quilt is designed using binary code. Originally used to repair and strengthen fabric, hitomezashi connects directly to the themes of CCH's Broken Tech: Broken Earth project - exploring how we can repair and extend the life of our resources.

Visitors will have the opportunity to create a square and take it home!

*Pre-booking is recommended to guarantee entry. Please select the number of tickets you need and apply the discount code Quilt100 at the checkout.

Our Pac-Lunch shop will be open for tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks. We also have free parking.
Please print a copy of the receipt and bring it with you as your e-ticket.

Remember - All proceeds go to support our Computing Museum!
