Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare (also known as Alone in the Dark 4) is a survival horror game and part of the Alone in the Dark series.

The game features fixed-camera angles and gameplay typical of the genre with players needing to solve puzzles and manage their resources to overcome nightmarish creatures.
 
The game is a partial reboot of the first Alone in the Dark game that was originally released for MS-DOS in 1992. It retains the haunted house setting and the player character Edward Carnby although the location of the action is moved from Louisiana to Massachusetts.
