One of the most famous 8 bit titles has the Hero Miner Willy making his way through caves to collect keys to unlock the exit and escape.

Has the novel feature as the first screen being one of the hardest in the game.

It was released on Bug Byte first, then Software Projects gave the author Matthew Smith part of their company, and the game transferred over too.
