So Proud of Our Volunteers!

Staff and Volunteers

Volunteers in museums across the East of England are set to be recognised for the fantastic work they do in the annual Volunteer Awards - organised by SHARE Museums East.

We're delighted that four of our key volunteers have been nominated this year.

Curator, Jason Fitzpatrick said: “Our volunteers keep the Centre’s heart beating with their energy and enthusiasm! We are incredibly fortunate to have a strong team and value each and every one of them. It's great that the team will be represented this year by these four nominees."

The volunteers and categories put forward are:
Sam Doye, Outstanding Young Volunteer
Chris Monk, Learning Volunteer
Adrian Page-Mitchell and Philip Searle, Collections Champions.

Volunteers play a major role in caring for and interpreting our heritage and culture in the Eastern region, ensuring that it is accessible to all. The Awards recognise the immense input volunteers make to the region’s museums, both large and small.

The Awards will be presented at a ceremony on 8 June 2017 at the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket.

Centre for Computing History
The Centre for Computing History is a charitable heritage organisation with a strong focus on learning. Much more than a museum, it hosts hands-on exhibitions, learning workshops and a wide range of events to make the history of personal computing relevant and fun for all ages.

Since opening in Cambridge in August 2013, the Centre for Computing History has made a powerful impact on the educational and cultural life of Britain. We’ve been growing fast and today around 20,000 people a year visit to take part in our learning activities or have fun interacting with the machines in the exhibition spaces.

CCH is currently developing two new Cambridge-related archives: a Sinclair collection and an Acorn collection.
