Women in Computing 2026 boosts girls’ interest in STEM careers

Our Women in Computing 2026 Impact Report is out! We are delighted that it highlights the festival's success in inspiring young people and widening participation in tech.

Over 2,500 people visited the exhibition, with 201 students from 16 schools taking part in hands-on Discovery Days featuring coding, an interactive museum tour, and mentoring from local women in tech.

The results show a significant shift in attitudes, with interest in STEM careers rising from 64% to 91%, alongside major increases in confidence and enjoyment of STEM activities.

Delivered with partners including Ninja Theory, Arm, Orca Scan, The Female Lead, HFDE Ltd and St John’s Innovation Centre, the programme demonstrates the power of collaboration in inspiring the next generation of women in technology.

And it's not too late to see our 2026 exhibition: Code for Change, as it's currently being displayed at St John's Innovation Centre, Cambridge.
