Microsoft releases Windows 3.1

On 6th April 1992, Microsoft releases Windows 3.1. This version of Windows added support for multimedia extensions, increased screen resolutions up to 800 x 600, and increased modem speeds up to 9600 bps.

Retail price at launch was $149.00, and Windows 3.1 sold over three million copies during the first three months of its release.
