Compaq introduces the Presario range of computers

Presario was a range of personal computers, both desktops and notebooks, produced by Compaq. The Presario family of computers were designed to be affordable and easy-to-use for novices.

For $1,399, the Presario included a 14-inch monitor, an Intel 486 processor, a modem, and software to access the internet through Prodigy and America Online.

In the first two months after launch, Compaq sold more than 100,000 Presarios. The Presario range of computers helped Compaq dominate the personal computer market throughout the 1990s.
