Fingers Crossed for 2021 ...

2020 was the worst! COVID kept the museum closed for much of the year and a mains water pipe bursting causing a flood kept us closed for the rest.
We're hoping to re-open in the next few months ... fingers crossed! Read More >>>

Time-Sharing News July 1968 to June 1969

TIME-SHARING NEWS was formed on 1968-10-09 in California located at 1537 BROCKTON ST., LOS ANGELES CA 90025 .

Time-Sharing News is what it is--news about time-sharing. Its purpose is simply to exchange unbiased news and a healthy range of viewpoints between users, service compa¬nies, and hardware or software firms interested in time¬sharing (meanwhile enabling the staff to consume an occa¬sional hamburger or spend a few hours on a new terminal now and then).

TSN will focus its consumer-oriented editorial eye on time-sharing costs: communications rates, terminal costs, the many approaches service companies use to cope with supply and demand problems. Some of them emphasize line time, for example, while others are more concerned with compute time; some find relief in straddling time zones to extend peak-demand periods while others are beginning to look at user "bidding" schemes to get optimum use out of expensive equipment. One of the most effective ways we know to look clearly at time-sharing costs is simply to survey every existing time-sharing service company (plus a few still in pre-natal stages) for facts and opinions about their costs and pricing policies. When this survey has been completed, summarized, stored, manipulated, and analyzed in our own inimitable manner, TSN should be considerably nearer its other goal-becoming a clearing-house for commercial time-sharing information.

To be most effective, a subscriber-supported newsletter depend on the opinions, ideas, and interests of its readers. We welcome your comments
