The Prism Modem 2000, released in 1984, was a single-chip V.23 FSK modem designed for home and small business microcomputers.

Connected between an RS232C communications port on the computer and a domestic telephone, it enabled access to Micronet 800, Prestel, and other viewdata services.

Viewdata was an early form of online information service that delivered text and simple graphics over telephone lines to home or office terminals. Popularized in the UK by services like Prestel and Micronet 800, it used a menu-driven interface to let users access news, weather, shopping, banking, and email.

The modem supported full‑duplex operation at 1200 bps downstream and 75 bps upstream for accessing viewdata services, and also offered a half‑duplex "personal‑link" mode at 1200 bps in both directions.
