ITT Director

Automatic control in any language

The ITT Director Programmable Controller provides a simple cost-effective means of controlling multiple automatic machines and industrial processes. The highly competitive basic price includes everything necessary to write, check, fix into permanent memory and operate a control program, which may be in relay-type, Boolean or flow chart language.

The Controller
The ITT Director provides continuous programmable control of automatic machines and industrial processes. The user writes a program expressing a set of control instructions, using whichever system he prefers (e.g. Boolean equation, flow chart, relay or ladder diagram etc.} and enters them directly through a keyboard clearly marked with standard symbols. The program can employ a wide range of facilities allowing the control steps to be subject to the state of defined external or internal conditions, and to time. When the user is satisfied with the program, simply by pressing the FIX button, it is stored in a memory which requires no maintenance power. At no time does the user need to make wiring changes, handle electronic components, or refer to codes in order to initiate or alter his program.

The Complete Controller
The ITT Director is shown below in its basic form. These units together form a totally independent device capable of writing, checking, fixing into non-volatile memory and operating a control program. No additional equipment is required at anytime. A program is limited only by the number of input/output channels and the store memory capacity. These can be extended by plugging expansion modules into the rack in any position. The limits are 256 each of input and output channels, and 1000 instruction messages per program.
