The purpose of the XEROX BASIC REFERENCE MANUAL is to define the operator interface for the XEROX BASIC INTERPRETER.

XEROX BASIC is a modification of the Microsoft BASIC-80 (Release 4.7) licensed to XEROX by Microsoft Portions of the material in this manual are copied from, or are derivative works based on copyrighted material of Microsoft, and are used with their permission.

Few modifications have been made to the Microsoft BASIC-80 statements, commands, error messaees. etc., in an effort to preserve as standard a Microsoft BASIC-80 Interpreter as possible. The interaction between the operator and XEROX BASIC Interpreter is enhanced to take advantage of the 860 features.
