A colour video image digitiser. the MicroEye 1A, for the BBC A3000 and Archimedes. The unit captures colour images into the Archimedes’ Ram at 640 x 256 pixel resolution, with 24 bits of colour information per pixel. The full data is available to image processing applications, but in sprite form the images are reduced to 12 bits per pixel, giving an effective palette of 4096 colours. In this form, images arc easily transferred to other Arc sprite editing applications, such as ! Paint.

Two versions of MicroEye 1 A are available: for the Archimedes, a plug-in board with a back panel that carries an RGB/video connector; for the A3000, the board is supplied mounted in a separate external box which plugs into the expansion connector on the back of the machine. Either version needs a computer with at least 2Mb of Ram.
