52018 Leo Fantl and Lyons Photographic Club

Description of Photograph

Photograph of an outing of the Lyons Photographic Club.

One of the engineers on LEO I, Leo Fantl, was a keen amateur photographer and took a number of pictures of the machine and of his colleagues which form part of the LEO Society's collection. Here we can see him (far left) in an informal setting, out for tea with like-minded colleagues from Lyons, before he began work on the LEO project.

Inscription on reverse: 'Outing of Lyons Photographic Club. About 1949. Sid Cakebread? Leo Fantl on left when he was still in planning and before joining LEO project'.
