Things are tough right now ...

They're tough for everyone :( But when coronavirus hit here in the UK, the museum had to close its doors to the public, and we lost practically all our income overnight.

Please Donate Via Just GivingNo visitors, no workshops, no events, no school visits... no income. We know that things are tough for everyone right now, but if you can afford to help us through these tough times please donate what you can.

Apple IIc Flat Panel Display

Portable screen that attaches to the rear of an Apple IIc.

The screen itself is monochrome, and does not have the greatest viewing angle. It is not very common, mainly due to the parent machine the Apple IIc not being a big seller. Apple had hoped to sell 100,000 a month of the portable machine, they only managed that in a year, for roughly four years, and even the IBM PC Jr, itself a sales disaster, outsold it in the first year on sale.

The screen had an impressive 560x192 resolution, and connected via a DB-15 connector. One of the main faults with the machine was the lack of a back light.

Not being actually fixed to the Apple computer was seen as another drawback, as it could relatively easily slide off, only being held in place by a small slot on the computer.

Also it could only really sit at one angle which made it unsuitable for smaller users. The screen would soon find itself superseded by others that cured these faults.

Less than 10,000 were made, and these initially retailed for $600.

Its rarity, and unusual design make it quite a collectors piece among Apple aficionados.
