LEO Management Meeting, 11/12/1959

Minutes of the LEO Management Meeting, 11th December 1959.

Research comments: Refers to companies: Normand, NRDC (National research Development Corporation), Western Electric, Eagle Star, Guardian, Scottish Widows, Standard Life, Bensons, Standard-Triumph-International (in connection with "automatic marshalling of car bodies in their new production building"), C.A.V., Tate & Lyle, Renolds Chains, I.T.C., Ford, Glyn Mills.

Refers to people: David Caminer, Mr Barnes, Thomas Raymond Thompson (TRT), Mr Anthony, John Simmons,Mr Lanberth,"Smith".

Refers to machines: LEO II/10 (W.D. & H.O. Wills) and LEO II/11 (referred to here as intended for either Tate & Lyle or C.A.V., but eventually going to Ford at Dagenham), LEO II/5 (Hartree House Service Bureau). The lifespan of Powers printers is said to be "low".

Also refers to the LEO Document reader project and the Australian market (in relation to companies who could carry out maintenance).

It is of note that turnover in respect of LEO I is lower than expected, largely due to a drop in Market Research work and because of delays to the expansion of the Lyons Bakery Invoicing job (because the document readers are not yet ready). The document readers are necessary for the job because "at the peak time of the week there was too great a load of data preparation". (LM)
