Tangerine release the Oric 1

Tangerine release the Oric 1. Tangerine systems used the name Oric for a range of 8bit home micros. The Oric 1 came in 16K and 48K forms, and was a competitor to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.

During 1983 over 160000 Oric 1's were sold in the UK. Unlike the Spectrum, the Oric was based on the 6502 CPU (rather than the Spectrum's Z80).

Although the Oric 1 sold well, bugs were discovered in the ROM, and the Oric 1 was soon replaced by the Oric Atmos.
