60739 Control Console, LEO I

Description of Photograph

Photograph of the control console of LEO I, dated 28 Jan 1953. According to Peter Bird, the upper right panel is an early marginal test panel.

This image appears in the interactive plan for our Virtual LEO I installation, p17.

Research comments: There are various photographs of the LEO I control panel and over time several parts of it change as the machine is developed.

To the left of the console reliability statistics are pinned on the wall, testament to how important reliability was to the Lyons business.

On the floor to the left of the console is an oscilloscope, used for testing voltage signals and displaying them as waveforms, visual representations of variations in voltage. (LM)
