Fingers Crossed for 2021 ...

2020 was the worst! COVID kept the museum closed for much of the year and a mains water pipe bursting causing a flood kept us closed for the rest.
We're hoping to re-open in the next few months ... fingers crossed! Read More >>>

61864 LEO I "Co-Ordinator" (1953)

Description of Photograph

Digital copy of a photograph of the central control units on LEO I.

Caption: 'Another view of the "co-ordinator" - Central control units.  [ms] 28.1.53'

This image appears in the interactive plan for our Virtual LEO I installation, p45.

Research comments: In this photograph the individual units that make up the racks can be clearly seen. The 'handles' that can be seen along the sides allow the units to be slotted in and out; to minimise downtime and improve reliability units could be switched with a spare. Interestingly, it looks as if the units are labelled with tags. On the 'bench' in front of the rack is an oscilloscope, used for testing and finding faults with the electrical circuits. (LM)
