Description :

A weekend celebrating the 70th Anniversary of LEO - The World's First Business Computer.

70 years ago, on 30th November 1951 at 2:35pm, the Lyons Electronic Office (LEO) finished running its first full program - the first time ever that an electronic computer had been used for business purposes. It had taken 3 days to run and many months of preparation and testing before that - a journey that got the green light when the Cambridge EDSAC ran its first program - but from November 1951 on LEO was used routinely by J. Lyons & Co. to support their business activities.

Come and see additional exhibits from our LEO Project collection.

Come and watch our new film!

There will be regular showings of our new short film (25 mins) about LEO, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It will be playing every hour on the big screen in our classroom.

We'll also be showing interviews with 3 LEO engineers between each showing of the main film.

We are still maintaining some Covid precautions to protect our staff & visitors.
Hand sanitisers are available throughout the museum. Please wash
your hands regularly when using the machines.

Spaces for these exciting hands-on events are limited, so booking is required to ensure your place.

Payment is taken by PayPal immediately. Please print a copy of the receipt that is displayed at the end of the payment process and bring it with you as your e-ticket.

Remember - All proceeds go to support our Computing Museum!
