An original and stimulating CD ROM, Map Detectives teaches geography and mapping skills as children try to solve a series of baffling burglaries at Hartley Manor.

The Village Mystery
A daring thief has stolen several valuable objects from the manor and Lady Hartley isn't sure what has been stolen. However, she does have detailed plans which the intrepid detectives can use to work out exactly what was taken. Once their list is complete the investigation moves to the local village where a number of the stolen items have been spotted. Using map symbols and coordinates, children can search for the stolen goods and collect important clues which will help them identify the villain.

The Daylight Robbery
One of Lady Hartley's most valued possessions has been stolen during one of her famous parties and she is offering a big reward for its safe return. Unfortunately the guests left some time ago and are now scattered across the country. Navigating their way around a cycling map of the County of Sherston, the London Underground map and a walking map of Rainbow Hills, children can gather vital evidence that will help them track down the perpetrator of the crime!

Full of all the high quality resources including photographs, animations and sound, Map Detectives provides a valuable and stimulating resource for geography and mapping skills.

Includes fold-out A3 maps, help pages, cut-out suspect cards, a grid to mark results, and a certificate.

It was also available as part of a collection of CDs designed to load onto an 'RM Store Box' so pupils could easily access the software via a server. It was in Collection 3, along with The Crystal Rainforest 2000, DK I Love Spelling, DK Become a History Explorer, and Rivers.

The elements of the game were re-jigged and the series revived again in 2005 for just PC & Mac, becoming two titles: The Village Mystery countryside environment essentially became The Map Detectives Rural Mystery, and The Daylight Robbery urban environment became The Map Detectives Urban Mystery.
