Description :

Join us for an talk on the golden years of Sherston Software, and the rise of edutainment...

Mark Vanstone started working as an author for Sherston Software in 1991 writing ArcVenture, The Romans for the Archimedes computers. At this time educational software started taking on many of the attributes of commercial computer games. After many successful titles, Mark moved to the corporate educational marketplace working for many large organisations such as Barclays Bank, AstraZeneca and the MOD. After discovering the new educational developments around the Raspberry Pi and Micro:bit, Mark found a new motivation to re-enter non-corporate education and started a new mission to re-work the ArcVenture series and bring it up-to-date. Mark currently also writes coding tutorials for the MagPi and Wireframe magazines.

The talk will begin at 7pm and last around 90 minutes, with the opportunity to ask questions afterwards.

ArcVenture running on an Acorn Archimedes, a common sight in many a 90's classroom!
