Courtaulds Share Registration Program - a First?

There was some mention, recently, of the Courtaulds share registration programme being the first of its kind. I wrote that programme, in Intercode. ICI attempted to takeover Courtaulds by buying lots of their shares -  in fact this hostile takeover failed. It did cause me a problem because the number of shares they bought meant that their dividend payment blew all the calculation limits. To resolve this I had to manually calculate the dividend and write a special routine which tested for ICI, as the shareholder, and then use my calculated dividend figure, which was “hard wired” into the programme.
