The Oxford 100 was first developed as the Gillette GPA in 1974 by Sinclair for Gillette who were looking to enter the consumer electronics market. However this version was short-lived and the Sinclair Oxford series of calculators was released the following year. The Sinclair Oxford range of calculators was first released in March 1975 and included the 100, 200, and 300 models with LED displays. Later models featured a vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) screen. Other models including the 150, Scientific, and Universal were also released after the initial release.

The Oxford 100 is a four-function calculator with a constant number function key. It has an eight-digit red LED display. It is powered by either a 9V PP3 battery, or by mains adaptor.
