The MUSIC 87 has been designed to be a complete MUSIC COMPOSITION SYSTEM. It is a combined music processor and music synthesizer, with a unique combination of hardware and software :

The Music 87 HARDWARE is functionally identical to the acclaimed Acorn "Music 500" synthesizer. It is a cream coloured 'black box' for connection between your computer and hi-fi or amplifier. It outputs full stereo sound, allows music written for up to 8 separate voices to be played and is capable, under the direct control of the user, of mimicking and 'synthesizing' almost any type of musical instrument sound, as well as creating .completely new sounds.

The Music 87 SOFTWARE controls everything that the MUSIC 87 hardware does ( the synthesizer itself has no external controls apart from an on/off switch ) . The software aims to be intelligible to any type of musician : amateur, professional or teacher, popular or classical, whether familiar with computers or not. It can be controlled almost entirely by simple 'one keystroke' commands without requiring the user to learn any special computer programming techniques. Detailed screen graphics both guide the user and make using the software a pleasure. Operation of the synthesizer will quickly be found to be intuitive and 'common sense'.

MUSIC 87 synthesizer, in cream box, with mains lead, and lead to connect to 1MHz bus socket on the BBC Micro.
MUSIC 87 SYSTEM DISC, a 80 track double sided floppy disc. 40-track users will receive 2 40-track discs, one the SYSTEM disc, and one the START disc.
MUSIC 87 ROM BOARD ( for Model B users ) ( 2 * 64K eproms mounted On a small electronic circuit board with pins projecting to plug straight into an ordinary 16K rom socket inside your BBC computer. )
