Microsoft releases Windows 2.0

On the 9th December 1987, Microsoft released Windows 2.0, the successor to Windows 1.0. It enabled users to overlap and resize windows. In March 1988, Apple filed a lawsuit about the overlapping windows claiming that Microsoft violated Apple copyrights. Microsoft won the ruling.

Windows 2.0 also brought in desktop icons, keyboard shortcuts, and support for 16-color VGA graphics. Word and Excel were also released.

Windows 2.1 superseded this operating system on 27 May 1988.
