History of organizational use of information technology to 1980

Contribution by Eric S. Boyles in Davis, G.R., Editor (2005), Management Information Systems, Volume 7 The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Management, 2nd edition.

Boyles notes, on page 147, UK enterprises including Lyons and LEO, but mistakenly states Lyons worked with Manchester University not Cambridge University. The author also suggests that the first business use of a computer didn't take place until 1954, when in fact 1951 is more accurate.
