We're Re-Opening!

We're really excited to announce that we are re-opening to the general public for weekends only from the 17th October 2020.

The museum will only be open to visitors via our online pre-booking system. This will allow us to control and limit the number of people in the museum. It will also eliminate any delays at reception and minimise face-to-face time. It will also allow us to implement contact tracing, should we need to. We can not accept any walk-in visitors.

We are trying to make sure your visit to the museum is as unaffected as possible but there will be a couple of items not available for use. These include the Virtual Reality exhibit (that requires a headset to be worn), and the 'pixel wall' that uses lots of small plastic pieces to make an image. These have been replaced with some surprise hands-free interactives that we know you'll love!

We have increased the number of hand sanitising points, put protective covers over most of the computers (that still allow you to use them), set-up 'bubble zones' around the museum to help ensure you distance from other social bubbles, and we are asking you to wear a face mask during your visit.

We have worked hard to ensure the museum is COVID compliant whilst maintaining the interactive experience as much as possible, but to do this we are asking visitors to stick to our rules and help create as safe an environment as possible for everyone.

  • NEW exhibits will be on display, some hands-free interactive ones too!
  • The toilets will be accessible
  • The Pac Lunch shop will be open but with limited stock
  • The gift shop will be open
  • The vast majority of the exhibits will be accessible
  • We will be regularly cleaning exhibits
  • You will have to pre-book your visit
  • Bookings are limited to 6 people from any one social bubble
  • Instead of a one-way system, we have implemented 'bubble zones' allowing you to experience the museum in the way you want.
  • We are asking people not to enter the museum if the reception is engaged, instead forming an orderly and socially distanced queue outside for a short time
  • We are asking visitors to wear a mask
  • We are asking visitors not to dwell in any bubble zone for more than 10 minutes, however you can go back to a bubble zone if it's not occupied as many times as you want
  • Tables in our foyer area will be limited and spaced apart
  • The VR interactive, classroom activities and Pixel Wall will not be available

For more information visit our COVID-19: What To Expect page. We really hope that you'll help us make this work. We've kept the experience as close as possible to how it originally was.
