Spectrum version of the Ultimate Play The Game classic.

The first game to feature the heroic and much loved Sabreman who would star in four spectrum adventures, and would appear years later in a Game Boy Advance title, although with totally different gameplay, courtesy of Rare, who were formed by Ultimate's founders when they started work on the NES.

The game is a side on maze game, where Sabreman must collect four parts of an amulet to be allowed to pass the gate keeper, and escape the vibrantly coloured jungle and all it's vicious inhabitants.

Luckily in this difficult task, the local fauna can give a helping hand, some plants give invisibility, others a speed boost, although some give a negative effect, such as reversed controls or paralysis.

The jungle is filled with birds, spiders, and scorpions, which can be dispatched by Sabreman's highly amusing parrying sword, others such as the local natives, hippos, and rhinos will only run away when touched, at the bottom of the map is Sabre Wulf's territory, he is immune to Sabreman's attack and must be avoided.

This is the first game by Ultimate sold for £9.99, and in the large black box.

It also was released on Amstrad, BBC, and Commodore 64 a year later.
