Schools Coding Competition - Tuesday 12th March 2024

Calling all Primary and Preparatory Schools in the Cambridgeshire area!  Do you have enthusiastic Year 5s and 6s that would be up for a coding challenge? 

The Rotary Club of Cambridge and The Centre for Computing History are hosting a micro:bit coding competition on Tuesday, 12th March 2024 at The Centre for Computing History. 

The competition, which is for children in the upper Key Stage 2 age group, is open to 15 teams of up to 4 students per team from Cambridgeshire schools. 

The competition will involve using a micro:bit to control a buggy with two challenges at progressive difficulty levels.  The buggy kit will be pre-assembled and comes with built-in sensors for line and obstacle sensing and a header to slot in the micro:bit.  The participants will use the block coding interface of the micro:bit to code the buggy to investigate these features, ending the challenges by navigating their buggies through a maze!

The day runs from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Children should bring their own snacks and lunches and be accompanied by at least one adult.
