The WS2000 is a multi-speed, multi-standard modem. It enabled a computer to connect to online services such as Prestel, Micronet, and Telecom Gold as well as many public databases. The WS2000 was designed and manufactured in England by Miracle Technology (UK) Ltd, based in Ipswich, UK. The WS2000 has LED indicators on the front panel for:
The large knob on the right is used to select the mode of operation. The top rotary switch selects whether the modem is set for Viewtext or for other services such as Bulletin Boards or Easylink Telex. The lower rotary switch switches the modem between On Line and Local Test modes. On Line is the position used when actually engaged in a data exchange over the telephone line. Local Test sets the modem to a self testing mode. The dimensions of the WS2000 are as follows:
