The Datel Modem Type 13A was a data modem developed by GEC Telecommunications Ltd. for the British Post Office (BPO).

The Type 13A was designed specifically for use with basic data terminals like dataprinting equipment. It operated at speeds up to 300 bit/s using the V.21 standard.

The modem was engineered for low power consumption (maximum 435 mW), allowing it to be powered directly from most UK telephone exchanges, though an external power supply could be used when necessary.

In April 1974, GEC was awarded an initial production contract for 5000 units. The modem was officially introduced into service in September 1975.
