Released on 12th May 2005 the Xbox 360 was Microsoft's seventh-generation home video game console designed to compete against Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii. It is the successor to the original Xbox.

Released on 27th August 2007, costing £299.99, the Xbox Elite came in a matte black case, with matching headset and controller, and a 120GB hard drive pre-installed. It became the top of the range console, with the ordinary grey machine with its smaller hard drive the cheaper option. With the release of the Elite, the arcade version of the machine was phased out.

Although less likely to fail than its predecessors, there were still numerous cases of the dreaded red ring of death.
