Prince of Persia was a series of action-adventure gamescentred around various incarnations of the Prince of Persia. The games have been developed and published by several different companies. The first two games in the series, Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame, were published by Broderbund. Prince of Persia, was created by Jordan Mechner inspired by the One Thousand and One Nights stories, and films like Raiders of the Lost Ark. A technique known as rotoscoping was used to create the animation, with Mechner's brother as the model for the prince. This version of the Prince of Persia, was ported to more than 20 platforms, a record at the time. The series has been greatly extended with many spin offs.
