Zilog releases the Z80 microprocessor
Introduced in July 1976, the Zilog Z80 was an 8-bit microprocessor. It was one of the most popular processors in the 1970s and 1980s, used in wide variety of devices including:
Zilog was founded in 1974 by ex-Intel employees Federico Faggin and Ralph Ungermann.
In March 1976, the first working samples of the Z80 were delivered to customers. The Z80 was officially launched in July 1976.
