The Monkey Island 2 Mix 'n' Mojo code wheel was a copy protection device designed to prevent software piracy.

When the game starts, the player is shown two potion ingredients and the name of a disease. By rotating the cardboard discs to align these items, a set of numbers appears in a cutout window. This code must be entered correctly to access the game.

Code wheels were a popular anti-piracy method used by software publishers as home computer games grew in popularity and piracy became more common. While determined users could replicate a code wheel by copying the original, doing so was inconvenient. They would either need to manually transcribe the data or photocopy and cut out the individual layers. In the early 1990s, few homes had scanners or printers, so copying a code wheel often meant a trip to a library or print shop.
