Sega launches the Mega Drive console in Europe
13th September 1990 The Sega Mega Drive had its European launch at the European Computer Entertainment Show 1990, held 13-16 September 1990 at Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London. Arriving a year after the Japanese launch, despite Europe being Sega's strongest market, the Mega Drive built on the already very sturdy foundations of its predecessor the Master System.
