CDC 6600 is introduced
September 1964 Designed by Seymour Cray and James E. Thornton, the CDC 6600 is considered to be the world's first successful supercomputer. Between 1964 and 1969 the CDC 6600 was the world's fastest computer, with performance of up to three megaFLOPS.
