Description :

Can you speak 'computer'?! What does 01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111 mean?

In ‘computer-speak’, or binary (as we humans like to call it!), it means ‘Hello’.

Computers store information in binary. So, if you understand binary, you understand how a computer works. In this workshop, we will show you how binary numbers work. You can then use this concept to create a rabbit character on a 30-year old BBC Micro by turning binary digits on and off.

Use your characters to code a simple chase game and see how many carrots your ravenous rabbit can collect before you run out of time!

This workshop is aimed at children aged 11 and above and is ideal for children at the KS3 level.

This workshop session is priced at £15 per participant and includes entry to the museum!

For participants under the age of 14, we require an accompanying adult to attend the workshop alongside them. Accompanying adult tickets can be purchased for the normal museum entry price of £10.
