Description :

Back in the mid 1980s, a huge project by the BBC took a snapshot of life in the UK. Using thousands of children up and down the country, they gathered information, and took photographs of their home town and villages, which were then sent to a central archive to be digitally converted.

The result was the Domesday Project, held in one (large) computer package. The talk will be an insightful look at this important project, demonstrating the hardware and software, with a personal recollection of the data gathering process.

The event is on Thursday 30th May at 11 am and will last around 30 minutes.  There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end.

The event is free (although museum entry charges apply), but booking is essential to guarantee your place.

This will be open to all general visitors (all welcome but ideally suited to ages 7+). Please note that all under 14's must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Date: Thursday 30th May 2024

Time: 11 am

Although the event booking is for a specific time, entry to the Centre is permitted all day. The Centre is open from 10am.

Snacks will be available from our Pac-Lunch Shop. There's plenty of seating for parents :)
