MITSUMI Keyboard Unit (with Vari-Tech Inclusive Technology)

The Inclusive Vari-Tech Keyboard is a highly accessible input device designed for users with visual or motor impairments. Featuring large, high-contrast keys and a rugged, spill-resistant casing, it was build to support a wide range of special educational needs. The rounded keycaps offer tactile clarity and reduce the chance of accidental presses, while the simplified layout helps user focus on essential typing functions. These keyboards were commonly used in schools, assistive learning environment, and therapy centres, enabling individuals with disabilities to interact more effectively with computers.

The classic beige PS/2 keyboard is a typical example of input devices bundled with desktop PCs throughout the 1990s. Featuring a 104-key layout with mechnaical or membrane switches, it connects via a PS/2 plug - an early standard for keyboard/mouse interfaces on IBM compatible PCs. The keyboard includes a numeric keypad, function keys, and LED indicators for lock states. Durable and reliable, this style of keyboard became iconic in offices, schools, and home during the rise of personal computing.

Mitsumi keyboards like this one were often bundled with OEM computer systems from major brands, known for their reliable mebrane switch technology and solid construction. Its PS/2 interface was widely adopted during the era before USB became the industry standards for peripherals.
