Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs, and Ronald Wayne found Apple Computer Inc.
1st April 1976
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak first met in 1971, and began going to meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club in 1975. When the 6502 processor was released in 1976, Wozniak started designing a computer based around it.
By March 1, 1976, Wozniak had completed his machine and demonstrated it at a Homebrew Computer Club meeting. Wozniak initially intended to share the design for free, but Jobs convinced him they should go into business and sell the machine.
On the 1st April 1976, Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs, and Ronald Wayne found their new company Apple Computer Inc. Ronald Wayne was a co-worker of Jobs from Atari, and was brought into the new company to arbitrate the many disputes between Jobs and Wozniak. However, Wayne left Apple just two weeks later selling his 10% share back for $800.
That 10% shareholding would go on to be worth billions when, in 2011, Apple became the biggest company in the world.
