We're Hiring - Governance and Finance Manager

We're looking for a Governance/Finance Manager to support the CEO, liaise with the Trustees and help grow our ambitious museum. We are hoping to find someone that can also help us in our fundraising efforts. The Governance/Finance position is a 1 day per week role with the possibility to extend to 2 days per week to add fundraising management/support. We will also consider a different person for each role. 

The Governance/ Finance Manager - Job Description 

Reports To
CEO /Curator

Responsibilities and Duties
You will be required to work closely with our Board of Trustees and CCH Management to assist in ensuring that CCH’s finances are under control.

Financial

  • Overseeing production of the monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts and other modelling as required
  • Presenting management accounts to Trustees
  • Production of budgets
  • Overseeing the production of the Annual Report and Financial Statements
  • Liaising with the Independent Examiner/ Auditors

Operational

  • Organising Trustee Meetings
  • Production and coordination of agendas, minutes and other board papers
  • Liaising with Trustees to ensure the CCH risk register is maintained and reviewed
  • Maintaining entries and corresponding with Companies House and the Charity Commission
  • Coordinating the update of CCH Policies
  • Ensuring property obligations are met in regards tenants, rent agreements, EPC regs and other associated documentation.
  • Support the Trustees and CEO in strategy setting

Fundraising

  • Assist the CEO with fundraising and grant applications
  • Articulating the strategy to potential sponsors and funding bodies

Notes

  • The museum is staffed Wednesday to Friday so your days worked would ideally be within those days 
  • Trustee meetings are held in the evening and you would be required to attend those meetings
  • All staff are employed on fixed term contracts

Person Specification

Essential:
Accounting experience - (CCAB qualification desirable)

Desirable:
Company Secretary experience or knowledge
Charity Accounting experience
Fundraising experience
Grant application experience
Strategic planning
An understanding of VAT and partial exemption

Salary
Negotiable
