SCL - Semiconductor Complex Limited

Semiconductor Complex Limited (SCL) was an Indian state-owned company founded in Mohali, Punjab in 1976 to develop India's ambitions for establishing a semiconductor industry. The company began production in 1984. In 1989 the company's manufacturing plant was destroyed in a fire. The facility did not reopen until 1997.

In March 2005 SCL came under the administrative control of the Department of Space, and has been restructured to focus on research and development. It was registered as a society in 2005, and was renamed the Semi-Conductor Laboratory in 2006. In 2023 SCL was under administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
