The Apple Hard Disk 20SC, released in September 1986, was Apple’s first hard drive to use the SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) standard. It provided 20 megabytes of storage and was compatible with both Macintosh and Apple II computers.

As the first Apple device to feature SCSI, the 20SC offered significantly faster data transfer speeds — up to 1.25 megabytes per second — compared to earlier models like the Hard Disk 20 (500 kilobits per second) and the ProFile (limited to the Macintosh XL).

Note that The Apple Hard Disk 20SC should not be confused with the earlier Apple Macintosh Hard Disk 20, which was designed exclusively for the original Macintosh and connected via the floppy disk drive port.

This example in our collection was kindly donated by Nick & Diana Reeves.

Date : September 1986
