Acorn releases the Acorn System 1
The Acorn System 1 was the first commercial computer product marketed by Acorn Computers Limited. Originally called the Acorn Microcomputer, it was designed by Sophie Wilson and supplied either in kit form for £70, or fully assembled for £81.
The System 1 consisted of two Eurocard boards each measuring 100 x 160mm. The lower board contained the 6502 microprocessor and supporting ICs, and the upper board provided a 16 digit keypad and 9 digit 7 segment display.
