An unreleased ZX Spectrum game that was cancelled in late 1987 or early 1988. It was being worked on by Icon Design within Lothlorian at least as early as January 1986. The cassette seems to be marked "Progress Tape" and dated 16/1/86. Therefore this is most likely a very early version and unlike what the final product would have been. Write-up from Sinclair User Magazine, March 1987: "Icon, Lothlorian's in-house programming team, is busy writing Stellar Holocaust, for A 'n' F. Written by science fiction doyen Bob Shaw with a computer game in mind you take the role of an intergalactic bounty hunter who's transporting three criminals across space. You crash and when the wrappers come off hyper-sleep you discover the planetary system you've landed on is about to be destroyed. You're then in a race against time to find the one functioning ship in the system. A well-worn theme but, woa, it's a Bob Shaw story." Some coverage on the cancellation from Your Sinclair Magazine, March 1988: "The New Year has also brought with it a few quiet cancellations of games we’ve mentioned in the past but never seen hide nor hair of. Matthew Smith’s supposed comeback for Software Projects, Attack Of The Mutant Zombie Flesh-Eating Chickens From Mars, is probably the best known — others are PSS’s Hero Quest, Lothlorian’s Stellar Holocaust and Circus Maximus (bad news for strategy fans), and Elite’s Trojans. Oh, and Virgin’s Duelmaster game has been ‘postponed’, so don’t expect to see that either!"
