This is a front panel from one of the Cray J90 range, which were produced from 1994-1998. The J90 was available in three basic configurations, the J98 with up to eight processors, the J916 with up to 16 processors, and the J932 with up to 32 processors. Prices started at “well below $1 million”.

All the J90s were direct air cooled. Later the ‘SE’ scalar-enhanced CPUs were introduced. Extra I/O cabinets could be added.

A dated sticker on the reverse of this panel reads 26th March 1995.

A previous owner used it as a decorative desk light.

Manufacturer: Cray Research Inc
Date: 1995
